Dollhouse?

There've been a handful of questions about the dollhouse Owen got. Nothing like children's toys to bring out fascinating sociological issues...

(I didn't read this article and it probably sucks but if you blog you have to put in links to articles I'm told)

I observed Owen playing with the house just to see if I could get a better sense of what his play-life could tell me about his socio-cultural-sexual-development....

He has named one of the people who lives in the house "Jim." Jim wears fatigues everywhere he goes and has an unlicensed, usually concealed Glock that he intermittently points at the other person in the house "Chris" whenever Chris is lazy with the chores, which consist of grooming the house's unicorn and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Chris is a more mellow character partial to yoga, introspection, pastry-making, chess and atonal jazz. Jim and Chris' relationship can best be described as mutual disinterest. It's unclear how they were brought together; their only common interest is the unicorn which they both dote on incessantly. The only clearly defined female involved with the house is the unicorn's trainer "Pam" who is portrayed as very competent at her job but perhaps somewhat frustrated by the glass ceiling she perceives to exist in the unicorn-training hierarchy.

So, make of that what you will. Owen is painting the house w/ Mom. I'll post a picture once it's done...

I can vouch for the linked article. It does totally suck.

This blog entry made me laugh. I'm glad to hear the unicorn is being cared for... there's nothing worse than an ungroomed unicorn.
