Today's sign that sports reporting ain't what it used to be

This was the last line in a brief espn.com story discussing Goose Gossage's displeasure with Joba Chamberlain's antics on the pitching mound:

"The elder Chamberlain [Joba's Dad] contracted polio when he was nine, and uses a motorized scooter."

The link between this fact and Joba's antics? Only the editors at espn.com know...

that dude is nutty. if he cracks 2000 RBI also a first ballot HOFer though

he ALWAYS gets outfield assists vs. the Os b/c we NEVER believe he's going to catch/get to/accurately throw the ball. yet most times he does
