O's podcast and baseball

Did you wake up this morning wondering how the moon was formed? Well, this might not clear it up entirely, but it will come closer than staring at the back of your wheaties box:

Speaking of wondrous creations, the O's are 4-1 and first in the AL East. No one in BirdLand is making any rash extrapolations at this point; it's just fun when every win seems like defying the odds. The Tigers starting 0-6 gave John Miller a chance to reflect on ESPN last night about the O's starting the 1988 season 0-21. That team had two future hall of famers in/near the primes of their careers, a solid #2 starter and some other solid pros. They finished with 107 losses, last in runs scored (550!) and ERA in the AL but, notably, 10th out of 14 in attendance. They won their first game APRIL 29th! on the road. The next home game was Monday 5/2 at the old Memorial Stadium... attendance: 50,402 (next day's attendance was 11,507).

But just imagine, the 2008 Tigers are 0-6 and you can already see the strain on the players' faces. The media is talking about the odds of making the postseason after starting 0-6 (slim). Sure, these Tigers had higher expectations but the 1988 O's still had 15 straight losses to go!! Talk about records that will never be broken....

Hey. A person can be determined, but not a good bowler. Case in point: Julie Parr.

Now you need to focus your determination on putting your comment in the right thread.

See, Hillary would never lift the bowling ball unless she were damn sure she would get at least 100. Because if she rolled a 37, can you imagine the commentary: awkward looking bowling shoes/outfit, aristocrat who never learned the sport of the people, bookish nerd, etc, etc.

Of course, if she rolled a 200, it would be 'over-achieving she-devil out to control the universe through a blue collar masquerade.' And did you see her celebration on that strike? !? So shrill/awkward/calculated!

I take it back, Obama's 37 was inspiring, smooth, and most of all, made me feel better about myself.
