What a game

The atmosphere WAS electric, if not nuclear. It was fun to get in our seats an hour early and see a half-filled stadium. Then there was the full-team introductions that got the crowd in a complete frenzy. Cheers for Larry Bowa, former Phils' shortstop and manager and current Dodgers' third-base coach and boos for Manny.

The game was a dog fight. Manny missed a two-run home run by a few inches in the first; Hamels was able to keep it together. Could Utley's first career post-season HR loosen him up some? Lidge's 1-2-3 9th was a big relief too.

Apropos of nothing, here's what I want to know:

If Warren Buffett is so highly regarded, why don't more Nebraskans vote Democratic?

Is Warren Buffett so highly regarded? highly envied for sure... Who wouldn't want to be the guy who wrote 'cheeseburger in paradise?'

Tell you what: neither one of the
Buffett brothers could hit a Cole Hamels' change-up. Nor could the Dodgers.

Way to bring it back around to the topic at hand.

I am so glad that your money on the baseball tix was well-spent (winning game) given the downturn in the markets. And here, I take the thread away from topic again.

ps. To answer your question about whether Warren Buffet is highly regarded: His nickname is "the Oracle of Omaha" and was listed as one of the Time 100 most influential people in the world last year. That seems pretty influential to me. And to think, you used to bag his groceries.

First 'bag his groceries' might sound like some kind of dirty euphemism but I want to clarify that it was literally just that.

Second, your first post seemed to be related to Nebraskans' high regard for him. Well, like most middle Westerners, Nebraskans have a certain mistrust of the filthy rich. And we certainly don't give high falutin nicknames like 'Oracle' nor pay attention to lists made by fancy magazines unless it's Parade's top 100 high school football recruits.
