Oklahoma?

good guess -- they're top 10 in each I think.

Of special interest to you Don is that Yale and harvard have each had 28 alums in the NFL... so we gotta get Tom Mante up there. HOWEVER, we're way ahead in games played and TDs PLUS our two highest impact guys based on a complicated formula (Gary Fencik and Calvin Hill) both have significantly higher ratings than their highest impact pro, Matt (who??) Birk

OK, I stand corrected, Matt Birk is a 6-time pro bowl center, formerly of the vikes, now ravens... but nonetheless, the formula -- presumably designed by a neutral party -- puts him behind Fencik and Hill

If only Eric Johnson could have stayed healthy. We also need the Bills to find a real QB to start ahead of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Once I heard that Jauron agreed to let Fitzpatrick start at QB, I had no problem with the Bills firing him as coach.

Where does W&M rank?

W&M has 46 pro alums ranking it 118th but within shouting distance of some decent mid majors (Marshall, Toledo, LA Tech). Their highest impact alum is judged to be Lee Creekmur, a lineman from the '50s who's in the pro football HOF. But keep an eye on Darren Sharper who could have HOF numbers esp if he has one or two more good years. He's 6th all time in INTs and 2nd all time in INT return yds and INT TDs.

So, when are you going to give us the answer? Gonna make me guess the 'Skers? Ok. I just did....

*Lou* Creekmur -- sorry Lou

always a reasonable strategy to get in the head of the questioner but Huskers rank 7th, 8th, and 19th in # of pros, # of games and number of TDs respectively.

I'll put you out of your misery -- briefly -- and then back in it when you process the answer:

Notre Dame

but I would have to think #2 in each category is gaining ground

I barely care about what I call "Minor League Football." There is hardly anything collegiate about big-time "college" football any more.

And yet, I still have an inexplicable hatred for Notre Dame and knew I should have guessed it but did not even want to for fear of being right.

Is #2 USC?

Will said...

yep - USC.

How 'bout 'Comeback Player of the Year' Tom Brady? He and pom-pon wearing Belli-weird are gonna have a long 6 months to think about the turd they just laid on the home turf.

I am so happy to see the Pats lose. Not only do we see them too much, but they bore me to death in a game. They are no fun to watch at all.

Glad to see the Packers making it a game at least. Wild Card weekend has been pretty ho hum.

But my Boys won a playoff game, so I can't complain.

interesting that nd and usc are the top two. neither are big schools compared to the likes of OSU or Michigan. the per capita nfl prospects must be through the roof on those schools.

needless to say, i can't let the pats comment go unaddressed. all dynasties must end, and it was time. the secret to their success was always smart game management and situational football -- boring if you're not a fan of the pats, but awesome if you are and get to watch two 20-game winning streaks through the aughts.
