I like how Safety is capitalized. Is the author of this email English-speaking? Was any action taken, and did any other emergencies occur?
Update: I don't know where/what the refinery is, where the Safety office is, what happened with the gas smell, who to call, what to do or who sent the email. And they say bureaucracies are inefficient...
And most likely you didn't smell the gas since you were producing so much of your own at the time.
