Evaluate my trade....

I drafted Tom Brady with the eighth overall pick. Our league gives 6 pts for passing TDs so this was a no-brainer -- I was surprised he lasted that long. Anyway, as we know, his season lasted 8 minutes so I was left w/Trent Edwards at QB. I think Edwards will put up decent numbers at home but he struggles on the road.

I traded DeSean Jackon for Eli Manning to shore up the QB spot. (It's a 16 team league so there are no starting QB-free agents ). I don't know....I think DJ may have already had his best game of the season and it helped me get a week-1 win. When was the last breakout rookie WR season? OK a 5'10" rookie WR who's also a return man? Manning will be a top 10 QB some weeks ; the key will be picking which weeks those are. I'm betting this is one of them. Could I have gotten more for Jackson at QB? Dwight might have given me K. Warner but I give Eli the edge there.

dude, i may have gone with warner (surprisingly saved me last year). as someone in the same league, not sure about your trade. agree with sentiments on rookie wr, but wr feels like the thinnest position in our league because we have to start 3. which means, each fantasy team consumes more than the typical nfl team starts at wr (2). by comparison, each fantasy team only plays 1 qb, which is obviously the same number as starts for a real-life team. which leaves you with some pretty slim pickins at wr. haven't looked at your roster though, maybe you are stacked at wr.

warner is 37 and eli just won the super bowl...their value trajectories have to cross at some point and i think it's this sunday.

i agree the marginal value of wr is higher, esp a top tier one....i saw DJ as my #3 and at the end of the year, not much better than the likes of Ronald Curry. time will tell.

I like the trade. Maybe Kurt Warner does better. Maybe he doesn't. I doubt the difference will be all that great either way, and I think Warner has more downside than Eli. Neither has incredible upside imho.

how embarrassing that this would come out this way...i confess i had a microphone in my ear during the entire draft with Julie telling me who to pick. she also mandated this trade and has told me what to think about it. meanwhile, i've been changing my flower boxes over to autumnal flora

There seems to be a great deal of identity confusion happening on this here blog.

Good trade Will. Eli should have a solid season. He used to be a dope, but I thinking winning a Super Bowl, let alone in dramatic fashion, does wonders for a young QBs psyche.

Warner is a much bigger gamble. And, you are correct rookie WRs. Plus, don't forget it was the Lions secondary...they allowed 3 100 yard WR performances. Unheard of!!!!!!!!!

Steve - i hear you -- it was the Rams secondary though. that's who eli will be facing sunday. in any case, 2 votes for, 1 mostly against. and you know elsquid is just trying to prime me to trade him somebody he's after. he likes the older players so he probably has his eye on kerry collins

the eli trade is looking brilliant for you right now, though the giants don't play STL every week, as you point out.

on another note, you must be really sweatin' MNF game tonight. not only do you get to watch your 31 pt lead slowly dissipate, but you have to root against your beloved iggles (or at least dono) in the process. (yes, you say you're a bearz guy, but we all know who your side squeeze is...)

I may trade him back to the same guy this week b/c his other qb is Palmer and the Bengals look horrific.

Yeah, the iggles are my side squeeze but Dono can have a nice 20pt game in a hard-fought W, crayton can be held in check and I'll be just fine.

Shout out to 'Pops' Warner for his 3 tds and 15 yds per completion.
